She Knows
Faint seemed the scene as she leafed through dusty sheets abandoned on a cracked, wooden shelf. Memories of the past were lined with mist, so are visions for the future. Yet, the ardor guiding her never lessened. Despite the million times she stumbled, and the miscarried attempts to dampen the darkness in her soul, neither did she fall, nor did her delight dwindle. Now she clears the vagueness that has been her companion for years. Now she understands that the content she feels is all what matters; for her kindness remained as pure and as drifting; for her love never drained or faded; for recompense was never her purpose. Now she finds the peace she seeks in being satisfyingly proud of the “she” abiding her, in persisting to give for no return and to love with no conditions. Now she knows that she could never change to suit this world’s cruelty, but might change it. And the fact that she knows finally sets her free.
